Why do we need to clean our dryer vents
- When lint is backed up in a dryer vent, there is a higher chance that a fire could start because of it. Dryer vents accumulate highly flammable lint, and failure to clean out lint is the leading cause of dryer fires.
- A plugged dryer vent can also burn out the heating element.
- Longer drying time because of obstructed vents means higher utility bills and clothes experiencing more wear and tear.
- When it takes 2-3 cycles to dry a load of towels, it’s time to check things out.
Wrong way to clean dryer vent
Problems with using a brush to clean your dryer vent
A brush can push the lint further into the vent and does not navigate turns very well. We use a reverse skipper that blows the lint back out the vent instead of pushing it in. The reverse skipper can easily navigate a vent's elbow turns, much farther and faster than a brush.
Clean from the Outside
We clean the vent from the outside of the house so all of the lint gets blown outside.
